Why the Kids in Need Fund?
Imagine a child walking into his neighborhood school with a fresh haircut, wearing new clothes and carrying a backpack stuffed with the proper school supplies. This is a child ready to learn and be successful in school.
For more than 60,000 FCPS students, the reality is much different. In the 2020-2021 school year, close to 1 in every 3 FCPS students (31%) received free or reduced priced meals, an indicator that they, and their families, are living in need.

The Kids in Need fund assists our social workers and teachers in providing necessary items to students who need them. Our schools benefit from a robust network of non-profits, businesses, faith-based groups and individuals who support these students in their local schools. Educate Fairfax’s work supplements that of our community partners which enables us to assist more students each year.
School Supply Drive
(Collect for Kids)
Each summer, Educate Fairfax conducts an annual giving campaign called "Collect for Kids." Funds raised through this effort help purchase school supplies for newcomers to FCPS who are economically disadvantaged or recently displaced, as well the nearly 60,000 students who live in poverty. A donation of just $10 provides these students with the essential tools they need to be successful.
