Jane Petty
Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust VP

Jane has over 30 years of diverse marketing, public relations, and community involvement experience in the Metro DC area. She is currently the Director of Community Relations and Branch Marketing for Burke & Herbert Bank, the oldest bank in the state of Virginia. In this role, she is directly responsible for the bank’s engagement with the community, for building public-private partnerships, and for the strategic creation and implementation of marketing and public relations programs.  She has been with Burke & Herbert Bank for over 15 years. 

Prior to the Bank, Jane was the director of marketing for the Aluminum Association, where she led the industry in the formation of an Auto-Aluminum Alliance, orchestrated testimony before the National Academy of Sciences, and developed several award-winning marketing campaigns to build the market for aluminum and promote recycling. Early in her career, while working in the District of Columbia, Jane developed a tutoring center in a subsidized housing community, and together with The ARC, she orchestrated a city-wide scholarship program that brought awareness to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Jane has served on several different nonprofit Boards and most recently was the Board Co-Chair of GrandInvolve, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting older active adults as classroom volunteers in Fairfax County Title One elementary schools.  As an active community member, she has served as treasurer of her neighborhood association, served on the Fairfax County Animal Services Board, and on the UVA Reunions Committee. 

Jane’s three children are graduates of the Fairfax County Public School System, having attended Canterbury Woods Elementary, Frost Middle School, Woodson High School, and Thomas Jefferson High School for the Arts and Sciences. During their school years, Jane was an active classroom volunteer, substitute teacher, Odyssey of the Mind Coach, and Girl Scout Leader.  She is a firm believer in the power of public education and remains dedicated to supporting programs to enrich the experience for all children.

Jane has a Bachelor of Science with high honors from the University of Virginia; a Master of Arts in Marketing from the University of Florida; and is accredited in Public Relations.
