Bill Brown,
Board Treasurer
Moseley Architects Vice President

As an alumnus of Fairfax County Public Schools, Bill is passionate about the experience that public education offers students and the community. In 1981, he graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a Bachelor of Architecture. Since 1988, he has enjoyed collaborating with Fairfax County Public Schools’ Department of Facilities and Transportation to design solutions that meet district, student, and community needs. Bill understands the mission of Fairfax County Public Schools and applies this commitment to all opportunities with the school system.


He is a resident in the Fairfax area and values the close-knit community. As Vice President and a past member of the Board of Directors for Moseley Architects, Bill has gained extensive educational facility design knowledge and developed leadership and collaboration skills over his 40-year career. In his role as a board member, he recently assisted in developing and implementing a strategic plan to guide the firm for the next five years.


Based in the firm’s Fairfax location, he enjoys collaborating with clients and communities to achieve their visions for their schools. With a firm commitment to high performance design, Bill advocates the benefits of designing facilities with sustainable strategies, appropriate materials, and energy efficient systems.


Bill has extensive experience serving on boards and collaborating with committee members. He served as president of the Virginia and Southeast Region chapters of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE), an organization dedicated to elevating educational design. Bill has also served as the president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Virginia

and Northern Virginia chapters. As AIA Virginia President, Bill helped guide the chapter through a transformational strategic planning effort. His involvement in this organization includes AIA Northern Virginia Chapter Committee on the Environment Chair, AIA Virginia Chapter Director,

and Vice President of Government Advocacy.


Bill’s commitment to the educational built environment and the success of these organizations is clear through several awards. AIA Northern Virginia recognized him with the Distinguished Service and Service to the Chapter awards. Through his A4LE commitment, Bill is a Recognized Educational Facilities Planner and received the associations’ Educational Planner of the Year award.


Bill has broad interests in leadership, management, and science and his personal passions include travel, watercolor, and music.
