I-66 EMP Teams With Educate Fairfax To Provide $13K in STEM Grants
Operator of 66 Express Outside the Beltway Continues Support of Public Schools in Fairfax County
Fairfax, Va. – Today I-66 Express Mobility Partners (I-66 EMP), the operator of the 66 Express Outside the Beltway, presented a check for $13,000 to Educate Fairfax, the non-profit educational foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), to support grants that empower FCPS educators to create opportunities that enhance STEM learning and prepare students for future careers in science and technology fields.
"This is another difference-making donation from our partners at I-66 EMP, and this funding will go a long way toward enhancing STEM education in FCPS," said Dr. Lynette Henry, executive director for Educate Fairfax. "We're grateful for I-66 EMP's continued support of public education in Fairfax County."
The donation strengthens the years-long partnership between the roadway operator and Educate Fairfax. I-66 EMP became an Annual Partner of Educate Fairfax for 2024, contributing $15,000 to facilitate workforce readiness, career development, and enhanced STEM opportunities.
Previously, I-66 EMP has funded 10 need-based scholarships for students to attend the summertime FCPS Tech Adventure Camp, and has donated to the Kids In Need Fund, which provides essential school supplies for students from low-income households. In 2023, I-66 EMP made a donation to the Innovators Fund, a program which augments science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in Fairfax County.
I-66 EMP has contributed a total of $153,250 to Educate Fairfax since 2019, including $67,500 to the Access for All Fund to support FCPS students in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
